How to commission a portrait, plus prices and delivery times.

My portrait painting and drawing prices start from £180 for a conté portrait drawing and oil on canvas portraits start from just £289.

Commissions without sittings: Commission a portrait from a photo.
Due to the practicalities of client location and availability, much of my work is completed from photographic reference and many of the examples shown on this site have been illustrated in this manner.
For a quotation from your own photo, simply email me and I will get back to you within a few hours. Alternatively, call me, to discuss mailing them.
After initial discussions regarding size, style, pose and budget etc., at no cost, I will draw up initial ideas and sketches and email them to you, or, alternatively, you may wish to arrange a meeting, either at my studio, or at my home where I will be happy to show you samples of my work and discuss the various options, costs and deadlines.
Once a preparatory sketch is agreed a simple agreement will be drawn up detailing the cost, size options, deadlines etc., to ensure that you are happy will all aspects before work begins.
How long will my portrait take?
From the initial consultation, allow approximately 2 - 5 weeks for the completion of an oil painting, depending on size and complexity.
A conté drawing can be completed in as little as 7 - 14 days.
Get regular email updates of your portrait being created.
I will also email you regular photo updates on the progress of your portrait which will provide you with a record of how your portrait was created.
Framing
Work can be supplied framed, or unframed, it's entirely up to you. If you do have an existing frame and you would like me to match your portrait size to it, just let me know. If you would like me to frame your portrait, I only charge for the cost of the frame itself, not the framing service and supply frames at cost price, from as little as £15 up to £120 for larger pieces, however, I always recommend that you buy the best frame you can afford, for what is, after all, an original piece of art.

When and how do I pay?
Once you are happy with the finished result, payment can be made by bank transfer, personal cheque or by paypal. (NB Paypal carries a 4% surcharge).
Once payment is made I will despatch your portrait for next day or 2 day delivery, fully insured and securely packaged.
